Shears are a type of scissors used for cutting various materials. They can be made from a variety of materials, but most commonly they are made from metal. Pruning Shears

How to Use Pruning Shears

Slip the branch to be pruned between the shears and squeeze the blades shut with the handles. The blade will slice through the branch and remove it from the plant in this chopping motion. Always utilize pruning shears that are sized appropriately for the branch being cut.

Half-inch shears, for example, should only be used on branches that are a one-half inch or less in diameter; using too big shears on a larger branch can snap them.
