There are lots of uses of a griddle, and all you need to do is widen your perspective. If you are scanning some flyers or books about kitchen stuff, you will be able to find one known as “flat top grill”.

Griddles have flat surfaces that are heated using coal, electricity, gas, or wood. The most common use of griddle is to grill meat, eggs, sausages, hotdogs, and patties.

However, there are more things that you can do using griddles. It may come as a surprise for you, but griddles can also be used to boil water. Below, you will know how you can boil water using a griddle and some suggestions on how to maximize its usage.

The Appearance

As I look for kitchen wares that will surely captivate my heart, I was mesmerized by this electric griddle. Its flat surface caught my attention because it is so neat to look at. Apart from that, the surface does not stick at all. Meaning, no matter how much we try to cook, this will remain neat and clean.

The temperature is dependent on the choice of the person maneuvering the griddle. At first, I didn’t know what to do but as I learned it myself, I was able to discover that in trying to prepare a meal, you just need to cook directly to the surface of the griddle.

Next thing I discovered is that you need not use any other cookware just to fully prepare a good food. You just have to preheat the griddle and set it to the highest possible number. The glass pot must be filled with water.

At first, I thought it must be filled with too much water, but I have discovered that what it requires is just a mid-way measurement. Anyway, I have proved that everything that is over the normal is not good at all.

The Boiling Stage

As I was looking at my newly bought griddle, I was wondering if I can boil water on it. It is because during that time, I lost my water heater and so I cannot make my coffee or even a hot chocolate. Then, I tried boiling on my griddle and poof, I have found out that it is best used as a boiler.

The stages are the same as what was discussed above. You just need to preheat the griddle. Start with setting it to the highest number and then you have to be gentle when using it. No matter how in a rush you are, you just have to be gentle especially when setting the pot.

Set it until the middle of the electric griddle and then you do not have to drag it on the surface or across. You have to let the water boil. It is easy to determine whenever your water starts boiling because the bubbles appear, and it slowly rises and breaks itself.

When the water is already boiled in its totality, you have to lift the pot and remember, do not scratch the surface.

Other Option Used in Boiling Water

Apart from the pot, there is another option that you will surely not think of trying. What I mean to say is that you did not imagine that this kitchenware may be used as an alternative option in boiling water. Do you know what is that? It is a pan. It is advisable if and only if it is smaller in size.

Personally, I do not recommend or even suggest that you use pots and pans larger than usual, probably more than 1 quart for instance. It is because, when using more than 1 quart in size, this boiling kitchenware will be damaged. You will find it mismatched because a small griddle cannot accommodate a large pot or pan. Added to that, it will take a lot of time for you to boil water with it.

Imagine using a big container and putting it on top of the griddle. What will happen is that it will pull a lot of energy and heat from the griddle. In short, the effect will be the immediate damage of the griddle. That is why I advise you to take care of your kitchen ware. It is also like a car or even a phone that may be damaged outright when wrongfully managed.

Considering Larger Griddle

If your problem is the mismatched big pot and your small griddle, you may consider a larger one. You may use a thicker griddle, probably ¾ inches much thicker than the ordinary. With this, you may already use a larger pot without worrying about damaging your griddle. It is because thicker griddles are more tolerant in temperature. What I’m trying to say is that, no matter how extreme the temperature or heat is, if you are using a thicker griddle, you do not have to worry because it will not be damaged that much.

Conclusion

Griddles can be used for a lot of purposes, and boiling water is one of its many uses. Griddles come in different sizes and thickness, so in choosing one, consider how you will use them.

If you are someone who is always on the go, mini griddles are perfect for you because they are portable and easy to use. If you are someone who loves to cook several dishes, invest in pots and pans.

The heat coming from griddles may be difficult to regulate, so thicker pots and pans are more recommended. Moreover, griddles are very easy to clean because of their flat surface.

You can use a clean cloth or a tissue and the dirt and grease will be wiped out already. Griddles are very versatile and are best to use if you are cooking large quantities of dishes. As for the price, griddles are great investments and you can never go wrong with having one.
